UK Qurbani donations

Many individuals and families here in the UK are struggling with poverty are unable to maintain a varied balanced diet – going without meat for example – or at worst risk simply going hungry.

At Islamic Relief, we recognise the increasing needs of communities at home. One of the ways we assisted in addressing this crisis was by launching our first UK Qurbani programme in 2016.

Through local organisations, we provide Qurbani meat to people across the UK who are struggling with food poverty and are in need of food support.

How to give Qurbani in the UK?

You can give Qurbani right here in the UK for those in need. Our Qurbani programme aims to provide high-quality fresh sheep and your contribution will help to ensure that families and individuals, who are struggling to make ends meet, are not forgotten at the time of Eid.

UK Qurbani Prices 2023

It is advisable to give as early as possible. At Islamic Relief, we strive to implement the Qurbani sacrifice over 3 days (10th to 12th Dhul Hijjah).

[SOLD OUT] UK Qurbani - £199

[SOLD OUT] Prophetic UK Qurbani - £398

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) offered Qurbani for the sake of Allah (SWT). However, he didn’t just give one Qurbani to fulfil his duty to Allah (SWT), he gave two! This second Qurbani was on behalf of his Muslim brothers and sisters who couldn’t afford to give one.

How will the Qurbani meat be distributed in the UK?

In 2022, we worked alongside 19 local and national organisations across the UK, including FareShare and Aston Villa FC Foundation to reach vulnerable adults and children in need.

By working with partners connected to regional centres and smaller local charities such as community groups and soup kitchens, we are able to ensure that our high-quality Qurbani meat reaches those who need it most alongside essential food packs.

In 2022 alone, we distributed over 9,000kg in Qurbani meat to over 30,000 individuals and families across the UK. With your donations we were able to distribute 3,400 food parcels, 2,300 cooked meals by The Felix Project and 12,000 meals from surplus food by FareShare.

How much is Qurbani in the UK?

The cost of Qurbani in the UK is £199 for a high-quality British sheep, which is traditionally slaughtered in accordance with Prophetic tradition. The high-quality British sheep is bred and reared in the UK which is a more costly process than importing meat from abroad. However, this process ensures high quality meat.

Your Qurbani donations in action

Just one of the many people you’ve helped through our ongoing UK Qurbani programme is Fatima*.

At 59 years old, Fatima is unable to work due to ill health. With no income of her own, she relies on the food bank to provide for herself and her family. Alhamdulillah, your Qurbani donation has provided Fatima with a crucial source of protein at this special time of the year.
