Shaykh Yusuf Zahaby

Shaykh Yusuf Zahaby is one of our scholars, who we work closely with to ensure content across our channels is purposeful and accurate.

Our scholars are a valuable part of the process behind creating and publishing all kinds of content at Islamic Relief UK, to ensure that we remain a reliable resource for our community and beyond.

Bio: Sheikh Yusuf Zahaby

Shaykh Yusuf is a UK-based Sheikh with Ijazah and expertise in Fiqh, Hadith, Tafseer, and Usool. 

He graduated as an Alim from Darul Uloom Bury – which is one of the oldest Islamic institutions in the UK. He then furthered his studies on Hadith research and contemporary Fiqh (jurisprudence) under the guidance of renowned Hadith scholars such as- Shaykh Al Hadith Mawlana Yusuf Ibn Sulaiman Motala, Mufti Abdal-Fattah Al-Bezzim and Shaykh Hussam-Uddin Farfour. 

Today, Shaykh Yusuf is the co-founder of The Imam UK and serves as a senior member of the board of scholars & theologians for a UK shariah council based in London, known as The Imam Islamic Judiciary. 

He is also a senior visiting Imam and Khateeb at EIC Al-Masjid Edmonton Islamic Centre in North London, where he teaches classes on Hadith and Tafseer.

Shaykh Yusuf also dedicates much of his time to help address social and domestic issues. He is a qualified CBT practitioner (Cognitive Behavioural Therapist), and specialises in providing counsel on marriage-related issues. He is also the Managing Chaplain of a prison, where he helps support vulnerable adults. 

Shaykh Yusuf also advocates for the empowerment of Muslim women and supports projects to help combat domestic violence and forced marriages in the UK.  
He is well known for his motivational lectures and speeches, and has presented and participated in TV programs on Islamic TV and radio channels, where he discusses contemporary issues.
