Lebanon: Escalations in violence

Lebanon is facing an increase in hostilities due to the ongoing instability in the region, with fears that it may become embroiled in further conflict.

Since October 8th, there has been a rise in cross-border confrontations between Israel and Lebanon, leading to 23 deaths and the displacement of approximately 12,800 people within the southern region as well as other parts of Lebanon.

As a result of the tensions in the region, some airline agencies have suspended their flights to Beirut and the Canadian Foreign Minister has advised that Canadian nationals consider leaving Lebanon.

Islamic Relief’s response

Islamic Relief is preparing for any possible further deterioration of the situation in Lebanon, so we are doing all we can to ensure we can provide aid to those in need, if and when required, providing that it is safe to do so.

We have been identifying affected families’ main needs, which are food and medical items.

We are also coordinating our planned response with other local humanitarian actors, to ensure that it is as effective as possible.
